IKO ITC is a 5-day professional course designed for Assistant Instructors to become Instructors.
Surfy Surfschool is the only IKO Pro school in Estonia.
We are running a 5+1 days ITC course in May-June 2026 at Surfy in Tallinn at Haven Kakumäe sailing port and Kakumäe beach which is near by. The +1 day (04.06.2026) is added in case we don´t have enough wind during our weekdays. Please be prepared for 8 hour days of learning – theory and practice.
The course dates are: 30.05-04.06.2026.

To become IKO instructor you have to first enter Assistant Training Course (ATC) and when you pass, you can enter Instructor Training Course (ITC).
ATC is for independent kitesurfers who want to improve their riding or make a career out of kitesurfing. Learn the fundamentals of kitesurfing and turn your skills into primary teaching competencies. The ATC prepares you to work as an Assistant at IKO Centers around the world. You can also take this course to improve your kitesurfing skills and become a stronger and more confident kiter.
ATC includes 2 modules:
Module 1 eLearning from the comfort of your home and Module 2 In-Person Training at an IKO Center where you’re provided with the latest riding, safety and teaching techniques. You have the option to take only Module 1 to improve your knowledge. To receive your certification you must also complete Module 2.
ATC is held before ITC, 24-29.05.2026.
Level required:
Minimum age is 18 years old.
IKO Assistant Certification.
IKO Level 4 Advanced (Jump with grab, jump transition, ride toeside, ride upwind, recover a board and a rider in deep water, self-rescue in deep water, self-launch and self-land). You can bring a video of yourself wearing safety equipment demonstrating riding skills in case of lack of wind.
Valid First Aid Certificate (MFA or equivalent). Online certificate is not accepted.
What is included:
5-day course with an Examiner.
The Instructor certification when you demonstrate the required level.
IKO Plus Membership with professional and recreational liability insurance. Once you are certified, your membership will be updated and valid for one year from the course start date.
What you must provide:
Full quiver to ride in local conditions (kite, bar with lines, board and harness with kite leash and line cutter)
Wetsuit if necessary
Lycra and board shorts
Helmet
Impact vest or buoyancy aid
Pens of different colors, a pencil and an eraser
Note paper
If you do not have everything, please make an arrangement with the Organizer before the course.
Booking:
Flexible: The IKO Module 1 is paid at online booking and remaining course price is paid directly to the school
Pay the IKO Module 1 with credit card or Paypal
The IKO Module 1 is non-refundable and valid for 12 months

Module 1 is 199 USD. This includes eLearning materials, the ATC Manual and IKO Kiter Membership (Plus).
Module 1 is there to prepare you for Module 2 In-Person Training. If you need clarification or have questions, write them down. Anything that was not clear to you will be clarified by your Assistant Trainer during in-person training.
The in-person training fee is determined by the IKO Center. This is paid directly to the IKO Center. You can check pricing on the training calendar.
IKO ITC total price is 1168 USD:
module 1 is 329 USD (you pay directly to IKO)
module 2 is 839 USD you pay to Surfy Surfschool.
